I'm boycotting Etsy along with thousands of other sellers.

Two main reasons:

The Etsy marketplace is inundated with mass produced made-in-China goods at bargain basement prices. And they are not transparent with our customers about this fact.

Exploitation of foreign workers aside; Amazon, Walmart, Alibaba already exist. Etsy was supposed to be different.

Etsy has doubled our fees in the last few years and continue to make non-seller friendly changes to their terms and policies which we cannot opt out of.

All while making record profits (for their shareholders).

Etsy has managed to take a beautiful and unique maker space that artists and customers loved and corporatized it to death.

9000things is the aggregate of all the crazy ideas I have swimming around in my head. I'm a total DIYing, crafting, building, handmaking and designing junkie.

First and foremost, 9000things fights against the tradition of shoddily made, mass produced goods, lacking character and history. Everything here is made in the U.S.A. by hand.

I got my start as an art kid in Boston and quickly fell in love with using found and salvaged materials. *Ringgg* was my first design project that incorporated recycled materials, and that tradition holds strong.

Mostly though, I just like making things and then passing them on to people who will love them. Enjoy talking a walk through the creative side of my brain, and congratulate yourself for supporting small businesses!
